After successfully performing the first tunneling between New England MESH systems (Maine and New Hampshire,) Bill and Jay have developed a proposal to enable other MESH systems in New England to connect to each other via the commercial internet and experiment further. This will better position the Division to connect using RF vs. the internet and create a true Division-wide intranet that would allow high speed communication even when the commercial systems are unavailable locally. Mobile App Available to Navigate 2022 Dayton Hamvention

05/04/2022- Dayton Hamvention® is offering a free mobile app for smartphones and tablets to help attendees navigate the large-scale event, which runs May 20 – 22 at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Xenia, Ohio. The app, which was introduced in 2019, is offered in a collaborative effort with ARRL The National Association for Amateur Radio®.
The free ARRL Events app is now available and already includes Hamvention’s full program, so attendees can browse and schedule forums, find affiliated events, and preview the extensive list of exhibitors. During the event, attendees can use other app features to follow the hourly prize drawings populated by the Dayton Hamvention Prize Committee, and browse building and site maps.
Attendees are also encouraged to tap on the MyProfile icon in the app to add their name and call sign, email address, and any additional information they would like to share with other Hamvention guests. Additionally, the MyBadge icon displays a QR code of your event badge that can be scanned by another attendee or exhibitor using the Scan Badge icon – instantly connecting shared contact information with other hams at the event.
The app is available for Apple and Android smart devices, or access the web browser version which is optimized for nearly any browser or other type of mobile device. The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. The Ride to End ALZ is a major fundraiser and Amateur Radio Operators provide communications support at rest stops and in SAG vehicles.
This year’s Ride to End Alzheimer’s will be held on Saturday, June 4th at Hampton Beach State Park, Hampton, NH. Click here for more information.

Amateur Volunteers Sought for AngelRide, Essex, CT, May 28, 2022

Greetings!
After a two year COVID hiatus, AngelRide (in-person) is coming back strong for 2022! As most of you know, AngelRide now supports the Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp! The one-day AngelRide Classic will take place on Saturday, 28 May 2022 (Memorial Day Weekend).
Beginning this year the AngelRide route has been moved from ARES Region 4 to ARES Region 2. The Metric Century (100 km) ride is roughly a “figure 8” that will begin at Essex Fire Department. The middle of the “figure 8” (Rest Stops 1 & 3) will be at Chester Hose Co. The top of the “figure 8” (Rest Stop 2) will be at St James Parish Hall in Higganum.
The Region 4 ARES Mobile Comms Unit (MCU4) will be deployed to the Essex Fire House and serve as the Net Control Station. I am looking for ham radio operators to setup at the two Rest Stops as well as at key locations (TBD) along the route. If you are interested and available to participate in this very worthwhile charity event, please advise by return email.
See the two attachments for more info. I will share additional details about the ride as they become available.
Note to Dan KB1MMR – with your permission, we would like to use your 2m & 440 KB1MMR repeaters that have good coverage for the ride route. I’ll be in touch to discuss!

Starting on Friday: April 29 at 1900 Z (3 PM Eastern Time), the Handiham organization will be holding a QSO Party to recognize the program’s 55th anniversary. The QSO party will run through Sunday: May 1 at 1900 Z.
The goal of this event is to make contacts with as many hams as possible, including Handiham members, and to publicize the work of the Handiham organization as it tries to make ham radio available to people with disabilities.
All bands and modes will be used.
The QSO party exchange will simply be callsign, name, and state.
If interested, you can receive a commemorative QSL card from Handihams, confirming your contact.
So, please look for participating Handiham members if you are interested.
